As I write this post, I just finished my first day at my new job! My dream has finally come true and after 10 years I finally have my own classroom. Let’s talk about the new site, my new career and my new focus. Stick with me here, this post is all over the place 🙂
Back To School!
Today, I started a new job and I know it sounds cliché, but it is a dream come true. I now have a classroom of my own teaching at the Ashland West Holmes Career Center. Ever since I graduated from Lorain County Community College I have always dreamed of having a classroom of my own. Throughout my career I had kept an eye on openings and opportunities but they never lined up. When I got the call about this opportunity, I had to jump on it. Ever since I found out I got the job I have been cramming as much information into my brain as possible and saying I am excited is an understatement.
What are you teaching?
Short answer? IT / Computer Stuff
Long answer? I am teaching juniors and seniors networking and cyber security. The networking will be the easy part, the security portion is a little bit outside of my comfort zone, but I am up for the challenge. When you see Nettitude website, you will learn that if you take a look at the current job postings there is a ton of opportunities for students with network security certifications like the Comptia Security+ and I am excited that my students will be able to get those jobs right out of highschool.
But didn’t you just change jobs?
The short answer, yes. About 10 months ago, I started working at Pixel Connection in Avon Ohio and I still plan to work there in the near future. When I came on board at Pixel, I had no idea what 2020 was gonna be like and to be honest, leaving Pixel (albeit temporary) was a really hard decision. The team at Pixel is second to none and by far one of the hardest working teams I have ever been on. My plan is to still collaborate with the team in the future and fully intend on continuing to work with the team for future projects.
So what is your new focus?
I think back to my days at Firelands Local Schools and Huron City Schools, my happiest times were when I was helping people. Much of that help came from this blog. I want that again, that’s what I want to focus on. Over the last 10 years, I have started many new projects and many new WordPress installs and I let this site go. Not any more. I have nuked all of the other sites that are competing for my attention and I am putting 100% of my effort into this site. Much like me, the subjects may be over the place. One day maybe a travel blog and the next may be a tip for Kali Linux but the one thing that will remain consistent is my willingness to help you achieve whatever goal/project you are working on.
Thanks for reading,
If you need anything, you can find me in my classroom.
